2Pac released his second studio album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. on February 16, 1993. It was the follow-up to his highly successful debut album 2Pacalypse Now from 1991 and featured collaborations with some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Ice Cube, Redman, and Scarface. The album was a critical and commercial hit, reaching number 24 on the US Billboard 200 and ultimately being certified 2x platinum in the US by the RIAA. 2Pacalypse Now was credited with helping to cement gangsta rap as a genre and Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. continued that legacy, offering a darker, more personal look at life on the streets of California.
