2Pac’s fourth studio album, All Eyez on Me was released on February 13, 1996, and became an instant classic. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album contained many of his most memorable tracks, including “California Love” and “How Do U Want It”. “All Eyez on Me” also features a few of 2Pac’s most controversially political songs such as “Souljah’s Story” and “White Man’z World”.
All Eyez on Me features production from a variety of producers, most notably Dr. Dre and Daz Dillinger. The classic West coast G-Funk sound is prevalent throughout the album and is credited for contributing to the iconic status of All Eyez on Me. It was 2Pac’s last solo studio album released before his death, and it is now seen as a classic of the hip-hop genre with its combination of street stories, romance, and controversial social commentary. It was one of the first rap albums to go diamond and is often regarded as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
