Redman released his debut album Whut? Thee Album on September 22, 1992. The Newark, New Jersey rapper’s freshman release received commercial and critical acclaim. The album features production from fellow Hit Squad member, Erick Sermon, as well as additional production from Pete Rock. The album debuted at number 59 on the US Billboard 200 and peaked at number 49. In June 1993, it was certified Gold, exceeding the sales of 500,000 copies in the United States. Over the years, Whut? has been commonly esteemed as a classic hip hop album, and along with Muddy Waters, it is widely regarded as Redman’s best work.

Singles released from the album include “Blow Your Mind” and “Time 4 Sum Aksion”. The third single with a video release was “Tonight’s Da Night”.
