Master P’s first album, Get Away Clean, was released on February 12, 1991. The album was an immediate commercial success, reaching the top five of the Billboard 200 and going multi-platinum. It featured some of Master P’s most successful singles, such as “Mr. Ice Cream Man”, “Make ‘Em Say Uhh!”, and “Bourbons and Lacs”.
After the success of Get Away Clean, Master P founded No Limit Records in 1991. The label quickly became one of the most successful independent hip-hop labels, with over 75 albums released in its first five years. Master P’s own albums continued to be highly successful, with No Limit Records earning a reported $200 million within its first five years. No Limit became a major force in the rap industry in the late 1990s and early 2000s, signing artists such as Snoop Dogg, Mystikal, Silkk the Shocker, and C-Murder. It also released a number of successful soundtracks for movies such as I Got the Hook-Up and Hot Boyz.
