KD’s Craft Beer Run | Akademia Brewing Company

SALUD and an extra special Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! This is arguably one of my favorite times of the year and I’m thankful for so many things and so many people, including you for taking the time to check out our website and my latest beer run – I sincerely appreciate you!

Yesterday my wife and I planned to hit a couple spots in her hometown, Athens, GA, before everything shut down. In any case, after a quick search on Untappd, we realized Akademia Brewing Company was the closest to us but I’d never heard of’em. So we pulled up and I was thoroughly impressed to say the least – these guys are doing great work! We wound up not going anywhere else actually! Their bartender, Caroline, was hella friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and just wanted us to enjoy ourselves – which we definitely did!

I think I mentioned previously that my wife doesn’t like beer as much as I do but she enjoys sours. So we started with Granny’s Goodies, Imperial O-Negative and Nitro Imperial O-Negative. I also had a nice brown ale (What’s up Doc), a solid barleywine (Cheers to 5 Years), a pretty delicious stout (Flavored Stout – Pecan Chocolate), and some top shelf IPAs (Hazy IPA, Hoprodisiac, IQ, and 2X IQ). My only complaint is that they were out of their Pineapple Hoprodisiac so I’ll be sure to hit’em up again ASAP! According to Caroline, they do several iterations of this IPA so I’m looking forward to it!
